Europe’s most chic and generous interior designer takes us into her Parisian studio, where every exquisite corner and side table is stacked with inspiration.

Marie-Anne Derville is a French interior designer based in Paris. Living amid piles of books — ‘quite messy…’ she says, though we disagree — it’s no surprise her point of view is big, worldly, romantic.

‘I love to think I am living a bit everywhere. I need somehow to be always in motion, discovering, and I’ve organized my life and my work around this nature. I have the anxiety of being static. I am like a horseback rider seeking for beauty. Among my biggest passions: Italy, Visconti, Palladio, John Cassavetes and New York City.’

Marie-Anne is currently leading residential projects in New York City, London, Paris and a restaurant in Rome. She is also curating spaces for art galleries and private collectors. And if that weren’t enough, she’s designed a new collection of furniture for the gallery Giustini Stagetti based in Rome, due to be launched next Monday on October 16th in Paris.

To me, spaces are a medium, and a home is like a human being, with its imperfections and charm.
